Ne-Yo stopped by Power’s 105.1’s popular morning show The Breakfast Club on Tuesday morning (August 7). The singer-songwriter talked with Charlamagne, DJ Envy and Angela Yee about his new album R.E.D., why he turned down a role as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., what he thinks Trey Songz is lacking, why he gave Beyoncé writing credit on “Irreplaceable” and more.

Hundreds of screaming fans packed the outdoor concert stage to get a glimpse of Trey Songz on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday (July 25). The R&B crooner, whose fifth album, Chapter V, arrives August 21, closed out the show with a performance of “Heart Attack,” the Rico Love-penned lead single. Backed by a live band, Tremaine delivered a so-so showing on the late-night show; vocal rest and lemon should always be part of his ministry before performing live. Just sayin’.
Trey Songz keeps things PG as he shows appreciation to the lady in his life in the Justin Francis-directed video for “Simply Amazing,” a track lifted from his new album Chapter V, due August 21. The guitar-led cut serves as the album’s second single in international markets while we (the US) get the sultry “Dive In” as the follow-up to “2 Reasons” featuring T.I.
After releasing an early version of the album’s tracklisting on iTunes, Trey has unveiled the final version via Amazon. The 18-track disc features guest appearances from T.I. (“2 Reasons“), Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne (“Hail Mary”), Rick Ross (“Don’t Be Scared”) and Diddy and Meek Mill on “Check Me Out.”

For the third single from his upcoming fifth LP, Trey Songz takes it back to the bedroom on “Dive In.” The 27-year-old doesn’t stray far from his usual formula on the sultry track, where he sings, “I’m about to dive in/Girl hold your breath/Watch me stroke left, stroke right/I’m about to dive in.”
all most of his bedroom tunes, “Dive In” doesn’t offer anything new from the singer who, whether we like it or not, picked up where R. Kelly left off. Chapter V, due August 21, will be an interesting album for the man who claims to have invented sex, as he once again tries to solidified himself as ‘the guy’ in R&B. Can he switch things up and broaden his musical horizons without alienating his core audience, or will the next chapter in his story give us more of the same?
