Monica and Brandy’s musical reunion comes full circle on the June cover of EBONY magazine. Inside the magazine, the 90s divas open up about life, love, and reuniting 14 years after “The Boy Is Mine” for their collaboration “It All Belongs To Me.”
Monica’s latest album, New Life, debuted on Billboard’s Top 200 at No. 4, becoming her fifth consecutive top five debut. In addition to the collaboration with Brandy, the album features guest spots from Mary J. Blige, Wale and Rick Ross. The wife of NBA player Shannon Brown and mother of two is prepping the release of the album’s second single, “Without You,” produced by her cousin Polow Da Don.
Brandy hit big last week, following her episode of Behind the Music, with the premiere of her new single, “Put It Down” featuring Chris Brown. Netting rave reviews from fans and critics alike, the lead single to her upcoming album, Two Eleven, arrives on iTunes on May 8.

The ladies performed an abridged version of their duet, “It All Belongs to Me,” which is featured on Mo’s new disc as well as Brandy’s forthcoming album Two Eleven, due this summer. Brandy & Monica stopped by The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to perform their duet, “It All Belongs to Me,” last night (Feb. 16). For their first live performance of the song, the ladies showcased their powerful pipes with the help of a live band and three background singers. Kicking things off, Brandy gave the world as taste of her lower vocal register before Monica drove the point home by hitting pitch-perfect note at the end.
Written and produced by Rico Love, “It All Belongs to Me” has garnered mixed reactions from fans. Prior to the song’s release, it was dubbed as a sequel to their Grammy-winning single, “The Boy is Mine,” which catapulted both ladies into superstardom. Soon after the song premiered online, many were left disappointed by the songwriting, but praised the vocals and production.
The Chris Robinson-directed music video was filmed earlier this week, and is expected in the coming weeks.
VH1 targets the R&B/Hip-Hop market for the new season of Behind the Music. Aiming to touch on the impact R&B/Hip-Hop has had on the “millennial generation,” the new season will feature Pitbull, Game, T-Pain, Brandy, Akon and Nas.

The singers, who first teamed for the Grammy-winning “The Boy Is Mine” fourteen years ago, will take the stage at the Clive Davis-hosted event, will honor Sir Richard Branson and feature other surprise musical guests, according to Rap-Up.
B-Rocka and Mo will shoot the music video for the Rico Love-written track on February 13 with director Chris Robinson. They will also give the first televised performance of the song on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno the same week.
