It’s that time of year again when we question why MTV still has an award show for music videos, even though music videos haven’t been part of their ministry since TRL experienced an untimely death and replaced was with Snooki. But I digress.
The nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards are out, and Rihanna and Drake lead pack with five each. Last year’s big winner Katy Perry snags four nominations.
Rihanna secures two nods for Video of the Year for “We Found Love” and her collaboration with Drake “Take Care.” She’ll go head-to-head with Katy Perry (“Wide Awake”), Gotye (“Somebody That I Used To Know”) and M.I.A. (“Bad Girls”) for the crown.
Roc Nation’s latest potential golden goose, Rita Ora, does little to silence the Rihanna comparisons with the rock-infused “Roc the Life.”
“Kick a motherfucker to the cizzurb / you think you crazy, I’m bizarre” she sings on the drum-led cut, co-written and featuring vocals from The-Dream, which will appear on her Roc Nation debut ORA, due August 27 in the U.K.
Check out the official track listing for P!nk’s upcoming sixth album The Truth About Love. The 13-track album arrives September 18 and features her latest single, “Blow Me (One Last Kiss),” which leaped 58-9 on the Hot 100 last week to become her twelfth top 10 single. She now ranks third behind Rihanna (22) and Beyoncè (14) for most top 10s among women.
The Truth About Love is her first full-length release since 2008′s Funhouse, which earned three Grammy nominations and spawned seven singles including her first solo No. 1 “So What.”

On the next edition of Oprah’s Next Chapter, Oprah travels to Barbados to go one-on-one with Rihanna. After winning five GRAMMYs and scoring eleven No. 1 singles, the “Birthday Cake” singer returns home to discuss her journey to becoming one of pop’s biggest stars.
RiRi previously appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2010 during Harpo’s special on the Haiti earthquake relief effort, where she covered Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.”
The interview airs on August 19 at 9 p.m. on OWN. Watch the trailer below.
Rihanna wows in white on the cover of the August 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar. Inside the mag, the “Where Have You Been” singer opens up about her body and falling in love.
On her body: “I don’t know if there’s something going on with my body right now, but I’m eating everything in life! I miss my ass. It just went away! I need a butt. I have an idea of one, but it’s not living up to its full potential right now.”
On falling in love: “When I was in love, I fell so hard. I was really, really, really in love. The way it made me feel was priceless. And in a blink of an eye my whole life changed. Everything that I knew was different. I never thought I’d feel that pain in my life. I’m afraid of feeling that again.”

After going through a Euro-pop/dance phase on his last album, Nelly comes back to earth on the twerk-worthy “Marry Go Round” featuring Chris Brown, the first single from his upcoming seventh album M.O.
The St. Louis rapper delivers his signature flow on the verses, while Chris Brown gets melodic on the hook of the infectious cut, produced by Da Internz (Rihanna “Birthday Cake”). Ride the wave below.
You know the Apocalypse is near when a singer who raps and a rapper who sings throw bottles in clubs, take subliminal shots on Twitter, and drop diss tracks. Jesus be a fence.
Chris Brown fuels his beef with Drake on the remix to Chief Keef’s “I Don’t Like,” which also features a new verse from Game.
“A fuck ni**a, that’s that shit I don’t like/ They throwin’ bottles, I’m throwin’ models just ’cause I give a bitch long pipe,” raps Breezy. “I be singin’, he be singin’, so it’s on, fight/ But hold up, I ain’t give a ni**a no green light/ This head up, my bread up, one on one, what you scared, bruh?/ Matter fact, take care bruh, you a pu**y ni**a/ My ni**a Tunechi, yeah that ni**a nice/ Shout out to Nicki, man, that ass tight/ Them eyebrows, man, them shits is yikes/ OVO, you overdosed, screamin’ YOLO no, I live twice.”
