Album Art: Elle Varner – ‘Perfectly Imperfect’

With “Refill” resting comfortably in the top 10 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, rising star Elle Varner unveils the cover art for her debut album Perfectly Imperfect. Arriving August 8 via RCA Records, the album comes nearly a year after the release of her debut single “Only Wanna Give It to You” featuring J. Cole.

New Music| Ester Dean -‘Baby Making Love’

Ester Dean, the 26-year-old hitmaker who has written hits for Rihanna, Katy Perry, Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj, takes it to the bedroom on “Baby Making Love.”

“Make me scream/Make me shout/Make me love it/Turn me out,” sings Dean on the sexy cut. No word on if “Baby Making Love” will be included on her debut album, due later this year via Interscope Records.

That damn DEAN! “Baby Making Love” is a dope record; it makes you wonder if it was originally written for another artist or always intended to for the Oklahoma native. Either way, I like it. As far as her solo career goes, it will be interesting to see what becomes of it. We know she can craft hits for others so we can only hope that transfers to her own music.

Willow Smith – “Do it Like Me (Rockstar)” (Official Music Video)

After making a splash with “Whip My Hair,” Willow Smith looks to do it again with “Do it Like Me (Rockstar),” the latest offering from her debut album. The visual features the 11-year-old in different locations around the world, living life like a rockstar.

It’s doubtful that “Do it Like Me (Rockstar)” will become a substantial hit like “Whip My Hair,” but its good to see the pint-sized diva continuing her musical aspirations. That said, it would appear that Roc Nation has dropped the ball with Willow and her debut album, Knees and Elbows, originally announced for release on April 3rd.  With no new release date set, one has to wonder if the youngest of the Smith clan will have an album available for purchase. Am I the only one who secretly thinks the party is over? After all, the much-hyped “Fireball” failed to ignite any interest, despite its high-profile featured guest, Nicki Minaj.

Listen: Frank Ocean – “Thinking About You” (Radio Single Version)

Wait, what?

Frank Ocean wrote “Thinking About You” for Roc Nation’s Bridget Kelly, who released the track as the lead single to her Every Girl EP in July as “Thinking About Forever,” but in a surprising series of events, the moody ballad is now officially Ocean’s new single.  While there’s no official word on why Def Jam pulled the trigger on Ocean’s version of the song, one can surmise it’s due to Kelly’s “Forever” going virtually unnoticed by the masses, plus she’s isn’t signed to Def Jam.   The original demo, featuring Ocean’s vocals, surfaced shortly after the Roc Nation songstress premiered the track as her own. Mastered with new adlibs and a slightly altered title, Ocean’sThinking About You” is the lead single for his forthcoming debut album.  Listen to Frank Ocean’s ‘new’ single below.

Dev featuring Fabolous – “Kiss My Lips” (Official Music Video)

Dev provides oral stimulation in the suggestive visual for “Kiss My Lips,” the Fabolous-assisted music video from her oft-delayed debut album The Night the Sun Came Up, due March 26. I’m all for oral attention, but this song is ga’bage. Not to mention, the album is arriving nearly a year after “In the Dark” reached its peak. We know how this story is going to end.
