Earlier in the week, I posted a video of Dawn Richard performing an acoustic version of “Automatic”for the first time. Well, it was so nice the former Danity Kane diva had to do it twice. Dawn closed out her set at BMI’s “Next Fresh Thing” showcase at the Viper Room in L.A. last night with another stirring acoustic rendition of the track.
Since leaving Bad Boy, Dawn Richard has made major moves. During a recent appearance on KIIS FM’s “New Music Show,” the New Orleans native discussed her independently-released EP Armor On, which topped the iTunes R&B Albums chart, her solo debut album GoldenHeart, and performed an acoustic version of “Automatic” for the first time.

Dawn Richard introduces us to the sound of her full-length debut GoldenHeart with “Pretty Wicked Things,” a new track released to celebrate her 1 million Twitter followers.
Produced by Armor On collaborator Druski, “Pretty Wicked Things” starts like a soulful ballad with haunting drums and piano then slowly builds into a dubstep/dance track, reminiscent of “Heaven” and “Faith” from her EP.
“It’s the story of the beautiful things in life that get ruined by the wicked,” explains Dawn. “Goldenheart is the fusing of new sounds with R&B/soul. We are introducing the setup to Goldenheart with the release of ‘Pretty Wicked Things.’ This isn’t a single. It’s a setup. We have a lot ofsurprises for the hearts. Grow with us.”
GoldenHeart drops October 16.
After dropping “Bombs” and unleashing Armor On, Dawn Richard readies “Pretty Wicked Things,” a new track set to premiere tomorrow. The former Danity Kane and Dirty Money diva has released three covers for the single, produced by her Armor On collaborator Druski. One cover depicts a crying Mary holding Jesus, another features roaring lions, and the third is a close-up shot of Dawn’s eyes with black hair and claw-like nails. According to her promo team’s Twitter page, the imagery was chosen to depict different ways to symbolize “Pretty Wicked Things.”

The wait is over! Watch Dawn Richard’s new video for “Automatic,” the second single from her Armor On EP.
Dawn Richard will not conform. The former Dirty Money diva takes control in the music video for “Automatic,” the bold second single from her chart-topping EP, Armor On.
In the first photos from the set, Dawn, who recently earned a BET Award nomination for Best Group with Diddy-Dirty Money, transforms from a Stepford Wife to a golden android, sporting body paint, various wigs and edgy costumes.
“Automatic” is the perfect follow-up to “Bombs,” with its no-nonsense lyrics and booming bass.
“How did I get/Stuck living like this/Picture perfect/f-cking Stepford wife,” she sings.
The video will debut this June.
