Hip-Hop’s reigning king of radio, Rick Ross, doesn’t deviate from his proven formula on his fifth album God Forgives I Don’t, released July 31 via Maybach Music Group/Def Jam Records.
Filled with an array of high-profile collaborations that range from hip-hop’s elite Jay-Z and Dr. Dre (“3 Kings”), Nas (“Triple Beam Dreams”), and André 3000 (“Sixteen”) to his MMG cohorts — Meek Mill (“So Sophisticated”), Wale (“Diced Pineapples”), Stalley (“Ten Jesus Pieces”) and Omarion (“Ice Cold”) — God Forgives I Don’t (GFID) has all the ingredients to take crown for hip-hop album of the year; unfortunately for Ross that crown still rests safely with Nas’ recently-released Life Is Good.
Frank Ocean opts for simplicity on the cover art for his Def Jam debut Channel Orange. The follow-up to his critical acclaimed Nostalgia, Ultra mixtape features guest spots from André 3000 (“Pink Matter”), John Mayer (“White”), and his Odd Future cohort Earl Sweatshirt (“Super Rich Kids”). The 17-track project arrives on July 17.

Back on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, her former No. 2 hit “Party” featuring André 3000 rebounds 10-8 in its 34th week.
Co-written by Knowles, The-Dream and Shea Taylor, “Love on Top” is the fourth single from her latest album, 4, which has sold 1,135,700 copies as of Feb. 2012.
