Hundreds of screaming fans packed the outdoor concert stage to get a glimpse of Trey Songz on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday (July 25).  The R&B crooner, whose fifth album, Chapter V,  arrives August 21, closed out the show with a performance of “Heart Attack,” the Rico Love-penned lead single.  Backed by a live band, Tremaine delivered a so-so showing on the late-night show; vocal rest and lemon should always be part of his ministry before performing live. Just sayin’.

Stevie Wonder Receiving Icon Honor at Billboard Music Awards

There’s no denying that Stevie Wonder is one of the biggest names in the history of popular music. His music is legendary, but in recent years he’s become the go-to man for paying tribute to other artists. If you look back at awards shows from the past decade that involved a tribute or honor, most likely you’ll see Stevie behind the piano.

The 61-year-old living legend will receive the Billboard Icon Award at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, which airs live May 20 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET from the MGM Grand Arena.

Since bursting onto the scene in 1963 at 13, Wonder has released 23 studio albums, scored 32 No.1 singles, won 22 Grammy Awards and is one of the best-selling artists of all time.

Ashanti Performs ‘The Woman You Love’ on ‘Kimmel’

Ashanti continued the push for her single, “The Woman You Love,” with a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday. Flanked by a band and two background dancers, the Grammy winner’s energy was on ten as she whipped her hair and popped her hips for the live audience.

Easily her most energetic performance, I found myself more impressed with her hair flips than the live rendition of the song. Lifted as the lead single from her upcoming fifth album Braveheart, arriving June 19, “The Woman You Love” has yet to make a dent on radio or the charts. Hopefully, we’ll hear a stronger single before the album drops.
