Happy Birthday Whitney Houston
Today (August 9), Whitney Houston would have celebrated her 49th birthday. Despite her untimely passing in February, WATM pays tribute to one of the best, if not the best, to ever pick up a mic. Even at her lowest points, nothing or no one can take away what she brought to the table, musically, in the ’80s and ’90s. Speaking of the ’80s, watch Whit crush the stage — with nothing more than big hair, a fringe-y dress and a mic — on MTV in 1986.
Thanks for the music. Happy Birthday, Whitney!

Melanie Fiona Covers Alanis Morissette’s ‘Ironic’ for Billboard’s Candid Covers
The beautiful, talented and extremely underrated Melanie Fiona is the latest artist to visit Billboard’s studio for their “Candid Covers” live sessions. The Toronto songbird, who released her sophomore album, The MF Life, earlier this year, covered fellow Canadian Alanis Morisette’s 1996 classic “Ironic.”
“[Ironic] is just a great song that I think just really cut through in pop culture when I was a child,” explained Mel. “There was not a person in the world that didn’t know that song. No matter what type of music you listen to, no matter where you grew up, you know that song. I think that was a special song for me back then because it really made me pay attention to the art of storytelling.”
Mel also performed an acoustic version of “Wrong Side Of A Love Song,” the latest single from her new album. Watch below.
